My sister Kimberly recently posted her life's musical. I think music has always been a huge part of all our lives, and like smells for other people, I have made memories that are perfectly paired with certain songs. Here are just a few of those memories.
Fifth and Sixth Grade:
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
Glycerine - Bush
Spiderwebs - No Doubt
Love Fool - The Cardigans
...and anything by Greenday or Weezer
Listening to my Discman in my Room:
The Blue Album (Album) - Weezer
No Need to Argue (Album) - The Cranberries
Driving to Elementary School with Mom:
I'm In A Hurry (And Don't Know Why) - Alabama
Family Roadtrips to Utah:
Outside - From the Redwoods (Album) - Kenny Loggins
Greatest Hits (Album) - Gloria Estefan
...and anything else of Kenny Loggins', Gloria Estefan's, or Celine Dion's
Driving to and from Yellowstone:
Return to Pooh Corner (Album) - Kenny Loggins
Middle School:
Now 1 (Album)
...thanks Kimberly for that one.
Two Songs Directly Connected to Robyn Waking Me Up in the Summer:
Pepper - (Explicit band name)
..."I don't mind the sun sometimes..."
If It Makes You Happy - Sheryl Crow
Hiking to Scout Camp on Catalina Island:
Pinkerton (Album) - Weezer
Driving with Friends in High School:
Is This It (Album) - The Strokes
High School Dances/Freshman Year of College:
Party (Up In Here) - DMX
Senorita - Justin Timberlake
Hey Ya! - Outkast
Dirrty - Christina Aguilera
Jenny from the Block - Jennifer Lopez
It's My Life - No Doubt
...and anything by Coldplay
My Current Playlist:
M79 - Vampire Weekend
Swedes in Stockholm - Tokyo Police Club
Pork and Beans - Weezer (their new single!)
Time to Pretend - MGMT
Read my Mind - The Killers
Handlebars - Flobots
Young Bride - Midlake
Great DJ - The Ting Tings
Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill) - Wyclef Jean
Unissassi Laulelet - The Dø
This list was hard to make, 'cause I had to leave out about 3,000 songs. I hope you enjoy/know at least one or two of the bands I posted about. The more recent ones are pretty obscure.

I must be getting old because I've never heard of half your songs. I'll have to check them out. Hate to be one of those old ladies stuck in her era.
I don't know any of your current playlist music, either! It's funny that you associate those songs with me waking you up in the summer...I don't remember music being a part of that. So funny. I need to do a playlist!
Do you remember the cd or tape you made for Whit and you to listen to while you drove her to seminary? And I remember her telling me you made here wear a sombreo (?) one day to celebrate something- thanks for being a fun ride for her! Oh, and don't you know any country music? I think you'd really like it!!!
I am so proud of you and making a playlist! I think all of your music, from your childhood was attributed to me. I had no idea you were sneaking off listening to my cranberries cd. How funny. I can totally picture you listening to your music with your headphones on.
